Bruxism

Bruxism is characterized by the grinding of teeth and is typically accompanied by clenching of the jaw. There are multiple causes including: bite problems, stress, medical conditions, or certain medications. Bruxism can result in abnormal wear patterns on the top of teeth, notching of the teeth at the gumlines, unusually sensitive teeth, as well as severe damage to teeth including fractures. It is also a significant cause of tooth loss, gum recession, and loosening of teeth.
